29 Weeks Pregnant with Will

Baby’s Size: Butternut Squash (Yum!)
How far along: 29 Weeks
Total weight gain: 16 pounds. Putting on about 1 a week still. I don’t think I have ever gained weight at such a regulated amount. I usually gain weight (when not pregnant) a lot at once and then nothing for a long time so seeing the scale tick up just one pound over the course of a week when I have done nothing different than I did 7 months ago is still strange to me.
Sleep:  Okay. I’m getting up more at night to go to the bathroom. I’m also needing more tums at night to combat the heartburn so I get up for that sometimes too. The plus is that the sciatic nerve pain when I lay on my left seems to have ceased for the time being. I’m sure it will be back, but maybe Will changed positions and isn’t making it that uncomfortable at the moment. He is getting heavier though so I am finding that I have to change sides periodically because his weight pulling down one way or the other starts to hurt my sides. I sleep with a pillow supporting my tummy but sometimes I must shift and it moves out from under me.
Maternity Clothes: Mostly. Still appreciating that I can fit into a few non-maternity items.
Food cravings: Fried pickles. I have wanted them for about 3 days now. Maybe it’s the salt… but I would prefer my salt come in the form of pickles covered in batter and fried… then dipped in ranch. I made a baked version for dinner last night. They were good. They didn’t taste AS good though as the real fried version. So… craving still fairly intense. Hoping to make it up to Froggers this weekend to get some.
Symptoms I HAVE: Heartburn. I seriously cannot wait for that to end. It is so much worse than it was with Kenzie and I definitely don’t believe that will bring hair (trust me… I have proof in the form of a 2 year old that just started finally growing hair less than a year ago). That numbness in my leg is still off and on. I get winded easily. Well, more easily than I did a few months ago. I’m also finally starting to recognize Braxton Hicks. I mostly get them when we go for evening walks. I need to learn to slow it down a bit and remember to take water with me.
Stretchmarks:  No new ones still.
Doctor’s Appointment:  Next week! I’m ready to start going every 2 weeks. Just means we are that much closer.
Movement:  A lot. He seems to be running out of room though (not surprising at this point) so his movements are bigger and less often.
Belly Button (In or Out): Still in…
Wedding Ring (On or Off): On.
Labor Signs: None.
Gender: Boy!
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Eh. I have been going through that easily frustrated stage again. Poor Jack. He keeps getting under my feet or doing something that puts him on my bad side. He tried to snatch a pizza crust out of my hand this weekend. Needless to say… I snapped.
Best moment of the week: Going to the Orlando Science Center. We have never been. Kenzie LOVED it. I think everyone found something they really liked. We will definitely be going back.
What I’m looking forward to: Starting to finally get the nursery ready this weekend. Painting and moving furniture around to complete Kenzie’s “big girl” (or sort of big girl) room.
What I miss: Not a lot. I would like a glass of wine but I will make it. Almost there.

Welcome Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

It's almost time! School is upon us. The kids in our county return on Wednesday. Kenzie's first day of school is next Tuesday. Monday we will have Meet the Teacher during the day and then Tuesday will be her first day of VPK. More on all that in a minute... This week though officially started our return to normalcy. It's about time! Kenzie started back to dance on Monday. The fall season started and she was so excited. She was asking me all day about when it would be time to go to dance. She was just so ready to get back to it. This season/year we have elected to stay with the same teacher she had last year, Ms. Rebekah. Kenzie loved her so it seemed like a great bet when we found out that she was going to be teaching Pre-K 2. This year will be a lot like last year in that they will do ballet, tap, and tumbling but the skills we be more advanced. More "dance language" will be used (though Ms. Rebekah has always focused on giving them proper terminology anyway)...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Goodbye Preschool... Hello Elementary School!

Bear with me... this post is not only about Kenzie's final day at school but all the crazy things (they are just crazy to me because I can't believe that little 7 lbs 6 oz baby is about to be in kindergarten) leading up to it that are preparing her for being a kindergartener so it is a bit long. Aaaaannnnndddd... That's it. We have reached the end of an era for Kenzie. At least the end of a stage of sorts. We have officially left behind the preschool stage and are getting ready to embark on the "school age" section of her life. These last few weeks have been... emotional. About three weeks ago we took our happy selves over to the elementary school and attended the kindergarten orientation for our baby girl. Who isn't actually much of a "baby" anymore despite my protests. We were able to take a tour of the school and see some of the kindergarten classrooms, the specials classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, and media center. The kids were all given t...
