Happy Halloween from the Youngs!

It's no secret. We love Halloween in this house. This year our Halloween festivities were a bit understated. We didn't get the decorations down from the attic because between me not be allowed to lift much and Steven hurting his back, we just couldn't do it. It felt a little funny not having our decorations out, but it is what it is and next year we plan to be back to normal. We did, however, start our festivities with our annual pumpkin carving. Kenzie was super excited about picking out a pumpkin this year. She has been really into pumpkins for some reason and all the "funny faces" on them. We have a neighbor with a ton of fake pumpkins outside their house. We usually have to walk down there at least every few days for her to get a look at all of them. Any time she sees a pumpkin she gets excited so we hoped she would be just as excited about our pumpkin. In true 2-year-old fashion though, once we got around to carving our own pumpkin, the novelty had sta

Friday Favorites

My Friday Favorites post this week is light on content. It has been a slow week as we adjust to being a family of 4 without any outside help. =) I'm also holding all my Halloween stuff for a post tomorrow or later this weekend. That being said... here are my Friday Favorites for this week. =) This is how we do football now in the Young house. Whether it is Saturday and college football or Sunday and we are cheering on the Dolphins, we are loving this fall. I LOVE these gowns. I honestly didn't ever consider buying them for myself, but a friend got them for me and I am so thankful. These are lifesavers at night for diaper changes in the dark. No zippers, buttons, or anything like that. Dress up time! Kenzie has been super into dress up this week. She insists that I participate as well. I think she would dress up Will if I would let her. What were your favorite moments of this week leading up to Halloween?

Just the Three of Us

Our first week together as a family of 4 without any helpers around is getting ready to come to a close. That means that my first solo week as a stay at home mom of 2 little ones is also coming to a close. I can't believe we are reaching this point. When this week started, I was so nervous to handle everything on my own. Honestly, I'm still not sure most of the time what is going on around here. I remember my first few days alone at a SAHM to Kenzie. I was beside myself. I had a lot of hormone issues going on and wasn't sure that I would make it though each day. While I have handled the hormones much better this time... I still worry how I will handle each day with two. This transition has been way rougher for me. However, that being said... I am truly one of the lucky ones. I have this amazing opportunity to be a SAHM for an indefinite amount of time to these two little ones. They make my life whole and I wouldn't change this for anything. I don't yet have a &quo

Friday Favorites - Double Edition

This week's Friday Favorites is actually a double edition. That's because last Tuesday we had a baby! Needless to say, I was sort of busy on Friday as we prepared to be discharged from the hospital after my repeat c-section. I never got around to writing this post. I was exhausted by the time we made it home and yet still had to deal with having a toddler (that I missed so much I just wanted to sit and hold her... if she would ever allow that sort of thing to happen.) I just never got around to posting. This is going to be a pic heavy post because I have so many moments and things I love from the past two weeks. So, I figure we should start with one of my favorite moments of the last two weeks. One of my favorite moments ever. It ranks right on up there with the birth of Kenzie. That's right... the birth of Will. I will spare you the picture of Will right as he was removed from his home for the last 9 months (it's a bit graphic) and just leave you with these: Hang

Postpartum Update

I am now 8 days out from my repeat c-section. Don't worry, I'm not going to bombard everyone with weekly updates postpartum for the next year or so. This will likely be one of my few updates. Maybe one around 6 months if I have anything to report, but I figured I would update everyone on how I am doing. (Again, we have a lot of friends and family that are curious but we don't talk to a lot so that's why I do these posts... If it doesn't interest you, that's fine. No need to read. =)) My section itself went pretty well last Tuesday. Will was delivered safely, but due to his nuchal cord wrapping issue my section wasn't exactly routine. Being that this was already a repeat c-section for me, the initial incisions had to be larger than what would occur for a normal c-section because of already existing scar tissue. The plus is that they were all made on top of previous incisions so I do not have additional incision sites, just a larger incision over what I alre

From 0 to Baby! - Will's Birth Story

Warning: This is a BIRTH story. There are parts of this that might be a bit TMI so be forewarned, if you choose to read it... there might be moments that are a bit too much information for you. Tuesday morning started just like any other morning in the Young house. Steven left for work early, Kenzie was awake but chatting away in her crib, and I was ignoring the fact that she was awake (since she was happy) until 7:30. Just as I always do, I got up right around 7:30 and went to the bathroom before getting ready to prep to get Kenzie up. This is where our lives started to take a turn and deviate from the norm. After I finished going to the bathroom I went to stand up and something else (barely) leaked out. Now, being 9 months pregnant and as of Tuesday, officially 1 week from my due date, my initial thought was that I had actually just peed on myself because I didn't take the time to make sure that I was entirely done. It was weird, yes, but I didn't worry myself too much. I t
