A Weekend of Fun... Young Family Style

Around here there are a few sure signs of when everyone has a good weekend: - The kids sleep in on Sunday (and hopefully Monday some but only time will tell) - They go to bed without any (or at least too many) typical bedtime avoidance tactics - Steven and I fall asleep almost as soon as our own heads hit the pillow - Everyone smells like sunblock... our ideas of a fun activity almost always seem to involve sunblock This weekend was a blast for all of us. We knew it was going to be a big weekend but we have all been looking forward to it. We started on Saturday with getting up and Steven and I took turns going on a run. Then we all headed out to Publix to gather a few last minute picnic supplies for the evening. After lunch, we packed up the car and headed for Jungle Hut Beach. Friday Favorites: Straight Hair Edition

So a few weeks ago, I did this thing. I chopped off about 7-8 inches of my hair. For some people, that isn't a huge deal... but if you have curly hair,  you know that 7-8 inches can easily turn into craziness. When curly hair is cut while wet and then dries, sometimes you aren't prepared for the short length it will be. I went into this after getting some inspiration from a friend that cut a lot of her hair off (albeit it isn't curly like mine) and I decided it would be something new and fun for the approaching summer. I just decided to take the leap. I did it knowing though that I likely would not wear my hair curly (at least down as I sometimes wear it pulled back after a shower if I don't have time to straighten it) for a while. That meant that I also wanted to revamp my straightening routine and I think I finally have a system down.
