Friday Favorites

I actually have quite a few Friday Favorites this week. Another reason I do this each week is that it ends up being an easy way to recap a few of our favorite things about the week to look back at later should we wish. This week was apparently just more fun than some of our other recent weeks. So... let's get started shall we? I have to start this week's Friday Favorites with these two goobers. They got to have their first real Daddy/Daughter Date this week. Monday I had a meeting for work so Daddy picked up Kenzie at my office (it is easier to meet there as it is half way between our house and his office) and off they went to Kenzie's current favorite restaurant, McDonalds. Yeah, I know it's not the healthiest option, but the kid loves it so it is a nice treat for her at times. Don't worry. We don't feed it to her often. Anyway, the both had the same thing apparently. Chicken nuggets and fries (Kenzie also had yogurt and milk just to balance out some of th

32 Weeks Pregnant with Will

How far along:  32 Weeks Total weight gain: 18 pounds. Still doing well. Doc is happy with my weight gain still. Sleep:  Still difficult remaining comfortable all night and (of course) getting up more and more to use the bathroom. On average, I think I am up at least 5 times a night. That doesn’t count all the times I wake up to rotate from one side to the other. Maternity Clothes:  Yep. I’ve also hit the point that I wear nothing but shorts and a sports bra at night. Maternity pajamas are one thing I never saw the point in investing in. So… I didn’t. I can fit in to my pj shorts/pants and just throw on a sports bra. I usually end up really hot anyway, so it works out just fine.     Food cravings:  Nothing really. I HAD to have ice cream the other night and actually went out to get some once Kenzie was in bed. Other than that, nothing has stood out. I have eaten a lot of potatoes lately. Potato salad, mashed potatoes, tater tots (when we were out), etc. Not sure what’s up

Sunday Grilling

Kristen here. This is supposed to be Steven's weekly thing, but I volunteered to take it over this week because he has been super busy around the house working in the yard and what not. That grass gets out of control when we have a week or two with so much rain. Anyway, allow me to attempt to blog about our recent dinners. Usually, we only grill on Sunday evenings. This week though, we elected to grill both Saturday and Sunday! Yay! I'm all for it. Saturday we decided to have wings. We are still learning on the whole wing thing. We tried them a few times last summer and just forgot everything we learned apparently. So, we started with the frozen wings from Winn Dixie. Nothing special. The big bags of them were on sale BOGO. We started by defrosting a few. First tip, defrost half as many as you think you will want. They are huge wings! Especially compared to the types of things you would get at most restaurants. I started them (after they were defrosted) with that McCormi

Go Big or Go Home (to read)

Big girl, that is. Kenzie's big girl room is well underway. It's actually done for now. The only thing in her room that reminds us that she is still such a little girl is her crib. Really, that's only there because she is a mover and a shaker... and I'm convinced that if she could get out of bed alone at night that she would spend all night reading to her stuffed animals or playing dress up. She doesn't mind either and she still hasn't tried to climb out despite the fact that she is quite the monkey. I think she likes the security. She can remain in that crib as long as she needs (within reason) and I am happy to let her do that, for now. Other than that though, we finally finished the transition to her "Big Girl Room". We knew eventually we would need to remove the glider from her room to put it in Will's room. We didn't want to wait until too close to his due date and we were ready to start transitioning her a bit so we make a huge deal

Friday Favorites

It's that time again! Time for another round of Friday Favorites. This week the highlight of our week was probably finishing the vertical striping on the wall that will be behind Will's crib. It was a task and a half to get taped up. It took Momma, Steven, and myself. At least there was some laughter about how ridiculous it was... or it might have ended in bloodshed. The painting was fairly easy though and once the tape was removed, we knew it was all worth it. His room (like Kenzie's) now has a little something extra. We also got one of his two decals put up on the wall. The other will have to wait until his crib is delivered (we ordered it and it should be delivered around the beginning of September) because the positioning is sort of dependent on the crib's location. Kenzie has gotten really in to giving hugs and kisses lately. She has also started saying "Love you" to us. She never really did it before and it is the cutest thing ever. She ac

31 Weeks Pregnant with Will

Baby’s Size: Pineapple How far along:  31 Weeks Total weight gain: 17 pounds. Though yesterday it would have been 18. Guess I am at that weird point where I gain and lose for a couple of days before finally putting on the pound (or more) for good. Sleep:  Eh. It’s getting more and more difficult to remain conformable. I expected it, but maybe not this early.    Maternity Clothes:  Mostly. Still stretching out some random clothing items.     Food cravings:  Not a whole lot. Maybe some red meat. We had steak last night. I have switched back to a normal prenatal vitamin with iron but maybe I am still a little low. Symptoms I HAVE: Heartburn. Of course. Why even mention it anymore. If it went away I would be utterly surprised. Maybe if he drops at some point it will get a bit better. The sciatic nerve pain has been almost non-existent, but the numbness has gotten a bit worse if I stand or walk for too long.    Stretchmarks:  No new ones still. Doctor’s Appointment:

Sunday Grill Night - August 10th and 17th

Wow, so I think this is my very first blog post.  I am definitely not nearly as, we will say expressive, as Kristen is about everything, so I rarely feel the urge to post.  This time was really no different, with the exception that I was challenged by my Sister and thought why not dive in?  I will start off by saying that I can talk to you all day about sports or technology, but cooking?  I can barely boil water (no joke, I sometimes have to ask Kristen which handle turns on which burner on the stove).  Grilling though, that is my domain.  I am 100% self taught in grilling (and sometimes it shows).  I have read articles online and had some buddies give me some tips on what has worked for them, but for the most part I just try it out and see what happens. A few years ago, Kristen and I started a little tradition that we were going to try to grill out every Sunday evening for dinner.  It's a good night because I am home and can take the time to help prep the meat and enjoy the actu

Friday Favorites

This has been a slow week. I have hit exhausted times 100 this week. Not sure why... other than that whole pregnancy/chasing around the most active toddler I have ever met, thing. But I couldn't miss our normal Friday Favorites post. Friday night (after my blog was posted) was the first Dolphins preseason game. We went up to Froggers to watch part of the game. Preseason means we really only care about the first few plays usually. Regardless, it was the perfect time to get Kenzie dressed up in her Dolphins jersey and eat food that is not good for us while cheering on the Dolphins with all the football season regulars at Froggers. It's like Cheers there. Everybody knows your name. We love the atmosphere and Kenzie is always a hit. This year was no different. When the Dolphins scored on their opening drive and Kenzie yelled "Touchdown" complete with her hands in the air signaling the touchdown then she yelled and clapped... everyone around us thought it was great. She

30 Weeks Pregnant with Will

Baby’s Size: Cabbage How far along:  30 Weeks Total weight gain: 17 pounds according to my scale at home… 16 at the doctor’s office. Either way, sitting around that point. Doc said weight is still looking good. =) Sleep:  Not that great lately. I have been really, really congested. Not sure if it is a cold that just won’t go away, allergies, or just congestion as a pregnancy symptom. I was pretty congested with Kenzie as well so it could just be that. Regardless, it makes sleep hard to come by. I am also going to the bathroom about 8-10 times a night (no joke…) so I am up and down A LOT! I think I am up every hour at least.   Maternity Clothes:  Yep… except those few non-maternity items I am wearing the heck out of. =)    Food cravings:  I got my fried pickles! Thanks, Momma! They were so yummy! Not craving too much at the moment. That can all change in an instant though. Symptoms I HAVE: Is it even worth mentioning the heartburn anymore? It is just a fact of life at
