Friday Favorites

Wow! I can't believe we are already back around to Friday. Sometimes when I think about it, the weeks seem so long. As we wait for Will's due date to roll around it seems like the days pass so slowly. Yet, when I realize that I wrote the last Friday Favorites post a week ago, it still feels like yesterday.

Without further ado... Friday Favorites:

We love our church and our church family. Kenzie loves it too. I have had a Friday Favorite before about our worship nights, which we love. One other aspect of our church that is amazing (although everything about it is), is the children's ministry. Kenzie is old enough to go in to the older classroom now (2-3 year olds) and she LOVES it. She always comes out of there telling us about what she learned and she gets to color and/or do crafts. This past week they were talking about how God made everything in the world. At least that is what I got from looking at her coloring and trying to get info out of her that made enough sense to pass on. Regardless, the kid was super excited with her hat. It was very adorable. She still talks about the day she made "super eyes". Granted, she tore them apart one day so we no longer have them... but it made a lasting impression.

I already posted this pic on Facebook this week. I think I forgot about it on Instagram though. I have actually gone Kenzie's entire 2 years without getting peed on like this. I mean, I have been peed on. Such is life as a mom... but I don't know that I have had it happen like this. I MIGHT have been holding her and tickling her like crazy. She was laughing so hard that she just couldn't hold it. That in itself was hilarious. I would do it all again though to hear her laugh like that. That is one of my favorite sounds.

This Tuesday Kenzie and I decided to make one last (sort of last minute) trip to Palatka to have lunch with Nana and see Papa (and Gus, the dog) before we decide to start remaining near home and the hospital until Will arrives. After Will is here I think it will be a bit before we make the trip again. It is only about an hour and a half drive, but it is through the Ocala National Forest and I would hate to start going in to labor during that trip. Plus, I am NOT delivering at any Palatka area hospital so I'm not willing to risk that. Sorry to anyone that lives or has lived in Palatka. It's just not happening. Anyway, we made the drive up in the morning and had lunch before turning around and leaving again. It is a long drive and day for just the two of us. Well, more for me. Kenzie napped almost the whole way home. I would have liked to have napped. I am so happy that both sets of grandparents are within about an hour and a half drive (they area actually less than an hour from each other too so that can be a plus for when we want to all get together).

One day we will be able to convince Kenzie to look at the camera again and not be so silly.
This week Kenzie received a gift in the mail from Nana. She was super excited. Not only does she now have a "Knights hat" but she has a "Daddy hat" too. Crazy kid. She just HAD to wear her Daddy hat to match Daddy when we went to our usual Wednesday night dinner.

What about you? What were your favorite moments this week?

Welcome Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

It's almost time! School is upon us. The kids in our county return on Wednesday. Kenzie's first day of school is next Tuesday. Monday we will have Meet the Teacher during the day and then Tuesday will be her first day of VPK. More on all that in a minute... This week though officially started our return to normalcy. It's about time! Kenzie started back to dance on Monday. The fall season started and she was so excited. She was asking me all day about when it would be time to go to dance. She was just so ready to get back to it. This season/year we have elected to stay with the same teacher she had last year, Ms. Rebekah. Kenzie loved her so it seemed like a great bet when we found out that she was going to be teaching Pre-K 2. This year will be a lot like last year in that they will do ballet, tap, and tumbling but the skills we be more advanced. More "dance language" will be used (though Ms. Rebekah has always focused on giving them proper terminology anyway)...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Goodbye Preschool... Hello Elementary School!

Bear with me... this post is not only about Kenzie's final day at school but all the crazy things (they are just crazy to me because I can't believe that little 7 lbs 6 oz baby is about to be in kindergarten) leading up to it that are preparing her for being a kindergartener so it is a bit long. Aaaaannnnndddd... That's it. We have reached the end of an era for Kenzie. At least the end of a stage of sorts. We have officially left behind the preschool stage and are getting ready to embark on the "school age" section of her life. These last few weeks have been... emotional. About three weeks ago we took our happy selves over to the elementary school and attended the kindergarten orientation for our baby girl. Who isn't actually much of a "baby" anymore despite my protests. We were able to take a tour of the school and see some of the kindergarten classrooms, the specials classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, and media center. The kids were all given t...
