Friday Favorites

This has been a bit of a trying week. We have had a ton going on (and a lot of last minute changes to all those plans) and I am dealing with some annoying issues getting our mailbox replaced... but that's another story. I'm actually really ready for this week to end. We did have some good times too, though and those are important to remember.

Saturday started off with cheering on the Knights. I think we don't even have to discuss how that game turned out... but it wasn't pretty. I'm still a Knights fan though and we will still continue to represent wearing our black and gold.

I also started working on the tutu for Kenzie's Halloween costume this weekend. Grandma is working on helping me make an apron to go over it and Kenzie is going to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. It was my favorite movie growing up (and still is). I can't wait for the day I can show it to her. I know she may not be quite as intrigued as I was, but it will still be something special for me to share with her. Now, to find a cute enough way to dress up Will as Toto and we are set!

I love these two. We went on a walk Saturday evening after dinner and decided to let Kenzie ride in her car. Well, on the way back it lost a wheel. That keeps happening for some reason. So, Kenzie got an impromptu mechanics lesson from Daddy on the way home. She was so in to helping him fix the car. It was very adorable. The did fix the car and Kenzie was able to finish her driving lesson.

Kenzie's new obsession is using the baskets at Winn Dixie. I have to argue with her if there is too much for us to buy that it won't fit in the cart. She gets so excited. She also loves to put the items on the belt... now if I could just get her to get a job so she can pay. Haha!

Kenzie is definitely my daughter. If you ever can't find her right under your feet in the house... check her room. She is likely in there reading away. I can't even get her to come out of there most of the time. She usually asks for me to join her and read with her. I love watching her love of reading continue to grow. I hope she never grows out of that.

Comfort food... enough said. And yes... I ate all of that for breakfast on Wednesday.

We are finally getting cool enough outside to play in the afternoons. The sweat all over my child would lead you to believe it is not cool enough, but for Florida, 85 degrees is good. She has been loving our outside time this week. I have to admit that I cheat and sit in a chair in the driveway so that I don't have to be standing. Too much standing makes my ankles swell for the remainder of the day. Pass.

What were your favorite weekly moments?

Welcome Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

It's almost time! School is upon us. The kids in our county return on Wednesday. Kenzie's first day of school is next Tuesday. Monday we will have Meet the Teacher during the day and then Tuesday will be her first day of VPK. More on all that in a minute... This week though officially started our return to normalcy. It's about time! Kenzie started back to dance on Monday. The fall season started and she was so excited. She was asking me all day about when it would be time to go to dance. She was just so ready to get back to it. This season/year we have elected to stay with the same teacher she had last year, Ms. Rebekah. Kenzie loved her so it seemed like a great bet when we found out that she was going to be teaching Pre-K 2. This year will be a lot like last year in that they will do ballet, tap, and tumbling but the skills we be more advanced. More "dance language" will be used (though Ms. Rebekah has always focused on giving them proper terminology anyway)...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Goodbye Preschool... Hello Elementary School!

Bear with me... this post is not only about Kenzie's final day at school but all the crazy things (they are just crazy to me because I can't believe that little 7 lbs 6 oz baby is about to be in kindergarten) leading up to it that are preparing her for being a kindergartener so it is a bit long. Aaaaannnnndddd... That's it. We have reached the end of an era for Kenzie. At least the end of a stage of sorts. We have officially left behind the preschool stage and are getting ready to embark on the "school age" section of her life. These last few weeks have been... emotional. About three weeks ago we took our happy selves over to the elementary school and attended the kindergarten orientation for our baby girl. Who isn't actually much of a "baby" anymore despite my protests. We were able to take a tour of the school and see some of the kindergarten classrooms, the specials classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, and media center. The kids were all given t...
