22 Weeks Pregnant with Will

Baby’s Size: Spaghetti Squash
How far along: 22 Weeks
Total weight gain: Jumping between 7 & 8 pounds. Depends on the day and time of day. Technically, because I write these things on Tuesdays (when my weeks change) I am usually at the top of whatever range I give. I think that is because weekends set me back. If I were to write these around Thursday or Friday, they would likely be closer to the bottom of my range.
Sleep:  Okay I guess. The sciatic nerve pain is really bothering me lately. As Will gets bigger, the pain becomes more consistent and happens even when I am not laying down or standing for long periods of time. It is still making sleeping on my left uncomfortable most of the time.
Maternity Clothes: Of course. I do have some shirts that I am working on stretching out. Not intentionally… I just like them. I have one pair of shorts I can sort of pull off because they were slightly too big before pregnancy and they sit low so they tend to hit the very bottom of my belly.
Food cravings: I could use more of those cheese fries. =) Tonight I am going out with some friends so that just might need to happen. I have also had weird cravings for red meat lately. That is really weird for me because I am not huge on red meat to begin with. I’m hoping it isn’t a sign that my iron is too low. I nixed my normal prenatal a while ago in favor of gummies as the iron in a normal prenatal was making my morning sickness worse and even after the morning sickness was gone it would make me really sick. I would often get sick after taking the vitamin and actually throw up which made me wonder if I was getting anything out of it. It never took long for it to happen. I am thinking I will try going back to the other prenatal soon and see what happens. Just in case. I don’t want to risk anemia during pregnancy.
Symptoms I HAVE: Heartburn. Ugh. I don’t remember it being this bad with Kenzie. Sciatic nerve pain like I already mentioned. I have also been really tired lately. I might just be worn down some.
Stretchmarks:  No new ones.
Doctor’s Appointment:  4 weeks away
Movement:  Yep! We have a mover and a shaker. I didn’t feel him a ton this weekend but Momma was here and we were super busy rearranging stuff from his room (since it has been used as a catch all for quite some time) in to our closet. Then we were out and about any time Kenzie was awake just about. Steven MIGHT have felt him last week. I’m not sure if I mentioned that already. Momma was able to feel him kick (just once) this weekend. He seems to be just as stubborn as his sister was and doesn’t like to kick for anyone else yet. I think right now he is either standing straight up or fully head down and is either using my bladder as a punching bag or trampoline. Since I haven’t felt any kicks on the outside today, I am figuring he is feet down. It is ridiculously uncomfortable.
Belly Button (In or Out): In. I am wondering if my belly button will pop out this time. It never even got close with Kenzie and I was pretty big. I naturally have this really, really deep belly button so even at the end of pregnancy with Kenzie, it looked normal. We shall see.
Wedding Ring (On or Off): On.
Labor Signs: None.
Gender: Boy!
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Happy but stressing a bit. I worry too much about things. We are working on potty training Kenzie and I am worn out and stressed about it quite often. She had a GREAT weekend but we have had a bit of setback the last couple of days. Hopefully she gets out of this funk and continues to get better and better.
Best moment of the week: Picking out colors for Will’s room. Finally getting something done and I am so excited to see the transformation of his room in the coming months.
What I’m looking forward to: This weekend we are going to a bridal party dinner type thing for some friends. Steven is in the bridal party but I am looking forward to celebrating with them as well since they are good friends. So excited for them! Even though we have 3 months until the wedding. =)

What I miss: Sometimes… diapers. Life seemed easier when I wasn’t constantly asking Kenzie if she had to potty. And I would like an Everroast chicken sub from Publix. Steven had to mention it this weekend. Boo!

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Ushering in Five-and-a-half

No. Nope. Not happening. Not even close.... but it is. As of tomorrow, Will is officially five-and-a-half. Halfway to six. SIX. What on earth? Both of our kids need to slow their roll and take it down a notch. It's so crazy to think that Will is going to be six in just six short months. He will start Kindergarten soon. He is already registered and ready to go. He is growing up so fast right before our eyes and it is a happy and sad time for me as Mama, for sure. So, a short update on Will at 5-and-a-half... - Will is growing like a weed. It is not uncommon right now for people to ask me if he has grown inches upon inches overnight. We are noticing that he is catching up to Kenzie fairly quickly and some of his friends that he used to be very similar in height to, he has gotten slightly taller than them. It's just his growth spurt time, apparently.  He remains remarkably skinny. So skinny that his clothes tend to fall of of him if we don't have adjustable waists. T...

Our New "Normal"

Wow. That's all I have to say about life right now. 2020 has been crazy. Back at the beginning of this year I made a chalkboard art that said something about ushering in the "roaring 20's," to which my ever positive husband replied something about 1920 having a plague (I see you, Spanish Flu) and we probably didn't want that to happen again. Fast forward to April... and we are all confined to our homes with the exception of leaving for groceries, medical needs, and exercise because of... a pandemic. (Insert facepalm emoji here... but I'm on a laptop so I don't have one of those.) This has been a crazy start to a new year. I am still having trouble wrapping my head around what has gone on over the last month or so for our country, our world, and our family. Here's what we should be doing... both kids should be in school today. Steven would likely be sitting in a water plant in Melbourne counting down the hours until he got to come home because he had ...
