21 Weeks Pregnant with Will

Baby’s Size: Carrot
How far along: 21 Weeks
Total weight gain: Still hanging out with my 7 lbs. I sometimes go up to 8 and sometimes drop back down to 7. I figure it is between 7 and 8 at this point. I just found my journal with Kenzie and at this point (well technically at 20 weeks, 4 days) I was up 10 lbs so I think I am still doing fairly well.
Sleep:  It’s been okay. I have noticed that my sciatic nerve pain is better at night now so I am able to sleep on my left more often. I am having difficulty sleeping on my back though. Not a big deal but I tend to roll that way at night quite often and it wakes me up after a few minutes.
Maternity Clothes: Yep.
Food cravings: I managed to get those cheese fries with ranch, A1, and bacon (plus jalopenos) last week. It was awesome! I want more though.
Symptoms I HAVE: Still having major MAJOR heartburn. To the point that I have almost considered something stronger than Tums. I have decided to just deal with it usually though because it has been more common at night and if I can fall asleep then I am fine. Sciatic nerve pain is actually worse but the new issue is that it shows up all day long except when I lay on my left side at night. Opposite of what it used to be. I have been pretty tired too lately.
Stretchmarks:  No new ones.
Doctor’s Appointment:  Not for another 5 weeks…
Movement:  All the time! He still tends to move more at night (which isn’t surprising). I keep trying to have Steven feel him but his patience isn’t very high. This is about the time that he first felt Kenzie. I think he might have finally felt a kick a couple of nights ago but he always convinces himself that he didn’t feel it.
Belly Button (In or Out): In.
Wedding Ring (On or Off): On.
Labor Signs: None.
Gender: Still boy. LOL
Happy or Moody Most of the Time: Feeling pretty happy but stressed out a bit. Dealing with potty training Kenzie is difficult but she seems ready and I really would like to get this done before Will arrives so that we do not have 2 in diapers all day.
Best moment of the week: Visiting Fort Mantanzas with the family (including Grandma and Grandaddy). Kenzie LOVED the beach. Definitely our kid. She had a blast running up and down the wide beach and laughed hysterically every time we lifted her above a wave. Everything was well and good until she got too much sand in her reef shoes. Then she lost it. Funny how sometimes things just turn them off. The kid never wears shoes at home, walks on any and everything but so help everyone if she barely brushes some seaweed on the beach with her toes. You would have thought the world was ending.
What I’m looking forward to: Father’s Day. Steven will actually be in South Florida visiting his friend but I plan to give him his gift early and I am super excited about it.

What I miss: Not having heartburn and not having random sciatic nerve pain.

Welcome Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

It's almost time! School is upon us. The kids in our county return on Wednesday. Kenzie's first day of school is next Tuesday. Monday we will have Meet the Teacher during the day and then Tuesday will be her first day of VPK. More on all that in a minute... This week though officially started our return to normalcy. It's about time! Kenzie started back to dance on Monday. The fall season started and she was so excited. She was asking me all day about when it would be time to go to dance. She was just so ready to get back to it. This season/year we have elected to stay with the same teacher she had last year, Ms. Rebekah. Kenzie loved her so it seemed like a great bet when we found out that she was going to be teaching Pre-K 2. This year will be a lot like last year in that they will do ballet, tap, and tumbling but the skills we be more advanced. More "dance language" will be used (though Ms. Rebekah has always focused on giving them proper terminology anyway)...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Goodbye Preschool... Hello Elementary School!

Bear with me... this post is not only about Kenzie's final day at school but all the crazy things (they are just crazy to me because I can't believe that little 7 lbs 6 oz baby is about to be in kindergarten) leading up to it that are preparing her for being a kindergartener so it is a bit long. Aaaaannnnndddd... That's it. We have reached the end of an era for Kenzie. At least the end of a stage of sorts. We have officially left behind the preschool stage and are getting ready to embark on the "school age" section of her life. These last few weeks have been... emotional. About three weeks ago we took our happy selves over to the elementary school and attended the kindergarten orientation for our baby girl. Who isn't actually much of a "baby" anymore despite my protests. We were able to take a tour of the school and see some of the kindergarten classrooms, the specials classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, and media center. The kids were all given t...
