Young Summer of Fun - Bucket List Update (and Other Happenings)

Our summer bucket list has been in effect for about a week. We have actually checked off a few activities on the list already. =)

Will ended up finishing his final swimming lesson so as part of the celebration for how awesome he did this year in lessons (and also because we miss Daddy during the week), we decided to meet him for lunch after Will's final lesson. We ended up going into this office because the kids think it is cool to visit Daddy in the office. They also like to see Ms. Yvonne who spoils them. Both kids came out with toy cars and Kenzie also walked away with a bracelet and sticker. Will would have gotten those too if he wanted them, but he was being a bit standoffish and chose to just drive his car around the floor while we chatted for a few minutes. We then left the office and went to Chick Fil A. We sometimes walk around Lake Eola and go to Panera, but we thought the kids would like Chick Fil A better. It worked out well and we had Daddy back to work within the hour.

We usually like to go out to eat on Friday nights, but this week had some difficult moments that required us to eat out at times we usually wouldn't so in an effort to save money (as well as combat the fact that Will has been difficult during some of our prior Friday night dinners out lately and that both kids were being iffy on the amount of food they were eating for a while after being sick), we decided to check off another item on the bucket list and we made homemade pizza and "rented" a movie. Sidenote: We probably don't need to worry about how much they eat anymore as both of their hollow legs seemed to have opened up in the last 3 days. We are going to go broke trying to keep these two full. Both of them have grown between .5 and 1 inch in the last month and a half too so I guess this is just par for the course. Anyway, we made our pizza together. Then we took it to the living room and sat down to watch the movie. The kids always think eating and watching TV is the coolest thing. We ended up borrowing Sleeping Beauty from the library. We made it about 1/2 way through before Kenzie was bored. She doesn't know what the classics are. Haha! We ended up switching to Disney Jr while they finished eating (everything in the house.)

We also did a few other things this weekend that weren't part of the bucket list but were fun none-the-less. We went out to Crystal River to see Steven's grandmother, aunt, and uncle. We ate lunch at Dan's Clam Stand which is awesome if you are ever in the neighborhood over there. They finally take credit cards too (I don't know that they did the last time we were there.) I don't even like clam chowder and theirs is awesome! (Note: Whatever was up with the kids last time we went out to eat seems to be fine. They were fine with me alone at Chilis and super great at lunch on Saturday. Thank goodness that was short lived.) We had a great time catching up. We do not see them very often so it was nice to get to do that. Kenzie decided that she needs to be our family photographer now. So, all except the pictures that have her in them were taken by her.

We also got the chance to go to our friends, Ryan and Jen's, gender reveal party on Sunday. We are so excited for them to have their first little one in October. Jen's due date is actually a few days after Will's birthday so we might end up with little ones sharing a birthday. At least they will (hopefully) share a birth month. Makes October more interesting as far as planning goes when we start working on birthday parties, but still fun. So excited for them. The party was Under the Sea themed and we had a great time. Kenzie and I were on team pink. Steven was on team blue.

 And the winner was...

Blue! Looks like Will is going to have a little buddy almost exactly 2 years younger than him. =) So excited for them!

We had a pretty busy weekend. Next weekend we are a bit more low key. Father's Day is Sunday but we don't have anything big planned on Saturday so we will see what we can do. Thinking an easy pool morning and then it's all up in the air. =)

Welcome Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

It's almost time! School is upon us. The kids in our county return on Wednesday. Kenzie's first day of school is next Tuesday. Monday we will have Meet the Teacher during the day and then Tuesday will be her first day of VPK. More on all that in a minute... This week though officially started our return to normalcy. It's about time! Kenzie started back to dance on Monday. The fall season started and she was so excited. She was asking me all day about when it would be time to go to dance. She was just so ready to get back to it. This season/year we have elected to stay with the same teacher she had last year, Ms. Rebekah. Kenzie loved her so it seemed like a great bet when we found out that she was going to be teaching Pre-K 2. This year will be a lot like last year in that they will do ballet, tap, and tumbling but the skills we be more advanced. More "dance language" will be used (though Ms. Rebekah has always focused on giving them proper terminology anyway)...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Goodbye Preschool... Hello Elementary School!

Bear with me... this post is not only about Kenzie's final day at school but all the crazy things (they are just crazy to me because I can't believe that little 7 lbs 6 oz baby is about to be in kindergarten) leading up to it that are preparing her for being a kindergartener so it is a bit long. Aaaaannnnndddd... That's it. We have reached the end of an era for Kenzie. At least the end of a stage of sorts. We have officially left behind the preschool stage and are getting ready to embark on the "school age" section of her life. These last few weeks have been... emotional. About three weeks ago we took our happy selves over to the elementary school and attended the kindergarten orientation for our baby girl. Who isn't actually much of a "baby" anymore despite my protests. We were able to take a tour of the school and see some of the kindergarten classrooms, the specials classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, and media center. The kids were all given t...
