Friday Favorites: Summer Bucket List Edition

This week's Friday Favorite isn't a product we love but rather our long anticipated (in our family) Summer Bucket List. This is something we have been doing for about 3 years running now. We sometimes keep a running bucket list of sorts for fall and spring too. We also always have an advent calendar of activities for the month of December. I think the summer list is my favorite though. Summer is a favorite season around this house. It means pool time, beach time, and a lot of other fun things that happen like Vacation Bible School and swimming lessons.

This year we have a few new things and some oldie but goodies. Technically we have quite a bit of time until summer officially begins, but we are so excited for summer that we decided to make the list now. We also decide to start summer post Memorial Day so our activities will begin in about 6 weeks.

We are super excited to have a few new things this year as well as keeping a couple of things that we didn't get around to doing from last year's list (like the pancake breakfast and going to Lucky Monkey) so we want to try to get them done this year. This was also the first year that Kenzie really helped list a few things that she thought would be fun. She wanted to put pool but that is a given. She also said beaches. Lots of beaches. So we ran with that and listed a few that we would like to get to. My favorite contribution she made though was the water balloon and water gun fight. She is so cute. She just wants to throw water at everyone.

We hope we can get to most of (if not all) the things on our list this year. Some we know will happen (as usual) such as the trip to Gatorland. That is technically already planned as the Girl Scouts' annual trip. Our scouts chose it as what they wanted to use their cookie money for and we found a way to include families so we will all get to do it. Some are things we know we may not get to but we would like to try. Every year I try to post weekly or so updates. That is mainly so that we can look back at them in future years. It helps us plan for the future and it's a way to document some of our family adventures. So, those will be coming once summer begins. We are so excited!!

Does your family keep a "bucket list" of sorts? What kinds of things are on it? Please share any fun ideas as we are always looking for new things to add.

Baseball, Birthdays, Picnics and Paintings

Whew! I'm tired. That's nothing unusual though. We had another big weekend. We started our weekly Spring Happenings list on Friday. Initially we planned on doing our Friday plans on Saturday but then Kenzie had a school friend's birthday come up so we decided to make some last minute changes. Friday afternoon Steven came home a bit early and we headed out to UCF to take in a baseball game. We have now hit up football, basketball, and baseball with the kids. They like all sports so far... though Will's first question when we mention a sporting event is always about popcorn. The kid has a popcorn problem. We love watching our kids be able to run around our alma mater's campus. It is just so cool. We love that we get to live close and go back to visit all the time as well as take in various activities and sports on campus. I'm hoping we get them so excited about UCF that they follow in our footsteps one day... though they can choose whatever they want. Except USF...

13 Weeks to 13 Miles! OUC Orlando Half Marathon Training: Week 7

This is it. This is officially the middle week of the 13 weeks to 13 miles training plan. It's the odd man out week. It is also the week after our rest week and the week that things really start to pick up speed. We have mostly done overall low mileage weeks up until this point topping out at 13 miles which is overall less than the half marathon... by a measly .1 mile but that mileage was all divvied up over 3 runs so it's definitely not the same. Now we start ramping up and we don't slow down until the week before the race when we essentially taper. This week is an overall 15 miles and by the end, we will top out at 22 weekly miles. Eek. We can do it! I know we can. I hope. Haha! Tuesday Plan: 4 Miles, Actual: 4 Miles Whew! Another run in the books. This one was probably one of the worst ones so far. Not because I didn't run okay. I was actually fine for most of the run. I kept my 1:1 intervals and paced about 13:30 without too many outliers as far as timing goes. ...
