Friday Favorites (Food Edition)

Call it cliche. Call it stereotypical. Call it whatever you like, but this pregnant woman has made a Friday Favorites post that is entirely centered around food. Really, it was just that looking back over the week I realized that I had a few pics of random food items and I thought we would go with a theme for this post. =)

Kenzie's lunch earlier this week. I have a picture because Kenzie insisted I show Daddy her lunch. She was super excited about this one. I, honestly, have a hard time with meals for Kenzie. She is a super picky toddler. Some days she is in to whatever I want to serve her. Most days... she isn't. Just getting any food into her can be a challenge a lot of times. I try to make sure they are balanced and pretty good for her. So, here she has whole wheat crackers, chicken, cheese, and grapes. Now. To figure out how to get her to eat veggies again. She used to eat greenbeans three or four times a week for lunch. Won't touch any veggies I give her at this point.

I posted this pic earlier this week on Instagram. This is my labor prep tea. =-) Some people say it induces labor. I don't buy that. Granted, (and I have mentioned it before in other posts) I do NOT believe you can self induce labor if baby isn't ready to come out anyway. That being said, this tea is actually supposed to help tone your uterus making labor a bit quicker and easier. If that is even possible. I'm willing to try it. I'm usually not one for any hot tea so I prefer to brew the tea, add ice and a bit of sugar (it is a super earthy tea) and drink it that way. I usually brew two tea bags for each cup just to strengthen it and let it steep for a few hours. I have recently moved up to two cups a day. The recommendation is to increase the amount you take as your pregnancy progresses. Since we are at most 3 weeks from Will arriving I figured it couldn't hurt to up my intake just a bit.

Did you know they sell this dressing in Publix?!? I had no idea until I found a coupon in the paper one day. It ended up being my obsession for the last week or so. I have seriously had a salad with it every day this week.

And last but certainly not least... this gem. I haven't had one of these in MONTHS. At the beginning of this pregnancy I drank them fairly often because they seemed to help with the morning sickness. As time went on, I just stopped. Well, this week I had an intense craving for one and had to go get it. I only drink the coke variety usually. I was a bit sad because the machine was working but the coke slurpee was slightly the wrong consistency. I dealt with it though to satisfy that craving.

What are your Friday Favorites for this week? As we get closer to Will's due date I keep wondering when he might make his appearance in one of these posts...

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

13 Weeks to 13 Miles! OUC Orlando Half Marathon Training: Week 7

This is it. This is officially the middle week of the 13 weeks to 13 miles training plan. It's the odd man out week. It is also the week after our rest week and the week that things really start to pick up speed. We have mostly done overall low mileage weeks up until this point topping out at 13 miles which is overall less than the half marathon... by a measly .1 mile but that mileage was all divvied up over 3 runs so it's definitely not the same. Now we start ramping up and we don't slow down until the week before the race when we essentially taper. This week is an overall 15 miles and by the end, we will top out at 22 weekly miles. Eek. We can do it! I know we can. I hope. Haha! Tuesday Plan: 4 Miles, Actual: 4 Miles Whew! Another run in the books. This one was probably one of the worst ones so far. Not because I didn't run okay. I was actually fine for most of the run. I kept my 1:1 intervals and paced about 13:30 without too many outliers as far as timing goes. ...

New State Parks, Beaches, Movies, and Friend Time

Another weekend has been put in the books for the Young Household. This weekend was actually a bit less crazy than some of our others, I think but still filled with fun and some new things. We started Friday afternoon when Steven was able to come home an hour or so early. We started getting ready for our big Saturday plans and then made pizza and sat down to watch a movie. We love this Friday tradition. We try to do it at least a couple times a month. We used to order pizza but when we started watching our finances closer, we determined that it was better for us to make pizza either homemade or frozen (and the kids like frozen pizza as much as pizza from a restaurant right now so we will continue to capitalize on that for a while... Will loves homemade but Kenzie is in a current anti-homemade stage because she is weird). Anyway, we made a frozen pizza and some cheesy bread. Then we sat down together to watch Inside Out. We picked it up at the library last week and never had a chance ...
