11 Months Old... Where did my baby go?!?

Sunday, June 30, 2013 11 Months Old Dear Mackenzie, Happy 11 Months Smiley Girl!! I have only had one breakdown in the past couple weeks thinking about how your babyhood is almost over. You will be a toddler in just one short month. How on earth?!? You are just the happiest baby. Even when you are tired you still give a lot of smiles. Sometimes we have to really pull one out of you, but there are moments when you just can’t seem to help yourself. We love to see your little smile. I’m not 100% sure what you weigh or how long you are now. We haven’t been to the doctor since your nine month appointment and it is really difficult to get a handle on what you weigh or how long you are at home. I figure you are somewhere around 19 or 20 lbs and you are likely around 29 inches. You don’t seem to be gaining as quickly as you used to but I think part of it is because you are always on the move. You seriously don’t stop. You are definitely not a snuggly type baby. You have to be involved in somet...

Kenzie's First Beach Trip

This weekend we took a trip to Treasure Island (on the West coast) for Kenzie's first ever beach trip. Julie and Eric were spending a couple of days out there and we thought it would be fun to go out and hang out with them on the beach. Having the use of a hotel room was also a plus. =) To start, I just need to share that we don't exactly travel light when we go to the beach. We never have. Unfortunately (or fortunately because we are always 100% prepared) we are not the kind of people that just pick up our swimsuits, towels, and go. We always travel as if we are staying all day and do not want to hang out in swimsuits all day. So, adding another person (albeit one that is barely over two feet tall and weighs maybe 20 lbs soaking wet) added that much more stuff to our packing list. We were packed to the brim. We used almost everything we brought over there too. Anyway, we left bright and early in the morning since it was a 2 hour trip to the beach. We got there around 9:30 ...

Double Digits! 10 Months Old Today!!

Thursday, May 30, 2013 10 Months Old Dear Mackenzie, Happy 10 Month Smiley Girl! Oh my goodness! Let the “how is my baby almost 1” meltdown commence!! Seriously, how has time flown by this fast?!? I am loving every minute with you though. Your happy go lucky personality is seriously adorable. You smile so often. I did a picture a day thing on Facebook this month that focused on pictures of you and one day was titled “Grumpy Face”. I seriously had to search to find a picture that was even close to showing some sort of grumpy face from you. They happen so very rarely. This month has flown by. Just yesterday it seems we were going to your 9 month appointment. You weighed in at a whopping 18 lbs, 5 oz (40th percentile) and measured 27 ¾ inches (60th percentile). The pediatrician decided that you were tall, skinny, and smart (you have a big head as well… 75th percentile). We will take it! You eat like a little piggy. As this month has gone on, we have changed from you nursing 5 times a day ...

Happy Mother's Day

Last year this time, I was pregnant with Mackenzie. It was what we considered at the time to be my "pre" first Mother's Day essentially. This year I have been blessed with the most special gift I could have ever been given. I have a very happy 9 month old that is truly the light of my life. On this Mother's Day though, I am having moments of sadness because all though I have little Mackenzie, I am all to familiar with other's struggles in motherhood. Just yesterday, a lady that was a part of the birth board that I joined lost her son to SMA Type 1. He was just over 10 months old. It was always a fatal diagnosis, but it was still something that shook everyone that knew him personally and even those of us that only knew him through blogs, Facebook posts, and pictures. Yesterday, heaven receieved a precious little angel. I'm sure he is running and laughing with the other children today and watching his own mom while smiling the most gorgeous smile. While I want...

9 Months In, 9 Months Out

Tuesday, April 30, 2013 9 Months Old Dear Mackenzie, Happy 9 months Smiley Girl! I can’t believe we have hit the “9 months in, 9 months out” point! You are such a big girl. Your Daddy and I talk all the time about how just a few short months ago you were so different and you have such a little personality now. There is so much I want to tell you about your last month. You have learned all sorts of new things and it is like night and day between this time last month and now. We haven’t gone for your 9 month appointment yet (it’s on Thursday) so I’m unsure how much you weigh and how long you are. I do know you are likely above 17 lbs. I know that because you had your first “sickness” this month. It wasn’t a traditional sickness though. Our entire family (including Nana, Papa, Grandma, Grandaddy and Uncle Rick) got a terrible cold. People had it diagnosed as everything from the flu and upper respiratory infection to bronchitis. I think I was patient zero which likely served you well. Due ...

Kenzie's Birth Story... Revisited

A week ago today, Kenzie was officially the same age out as she was when she was born. Yeah, in my head that makes sense. Kenzie was born at 37 weeks, 1 day. Last Tuesday she turned 37 weeks, 1 day old. In honor of that I wanted to repost her birth story. This was never posted on this blog as it was not in existence when she was born and therefore it wasn't really shared. I figured now was as good a time as any to share. =) So much has changed since July 30, 2012. We are quickly approaching her 9 month birthday and I can't believe how much she has grown in just a few short months. Our 7 lbs 6 oz (breech... my goodness check out those legs) bundle of joy and our very happy almost 9 month old Happy Birth Day Mackenzie! Trust me though, when I got up this morning, that is the last thing I expected to be saying. Let me back up a bit first though. As you may remember from my last post… Friday I had my usual weekly appointment. We found out then that my blood pressure ...
