Donuts, Disney, Dinners, and Driving (Plasma Cars... I just wanted another "D" word.)

Nothing major happened as far as the actual Spring Happenings list this weekend but we still had a great weekend filled with fun. We did manage to hit up another of the Disney parks. We had hopes to visit all four before our block out dates. We have done Epcot and Hollywood Studios so we will see if we can fit in MK and AK.

To start, Friday was the day that Kenzie has been looking forward to for about 2 weeks (if not more...) at school. Because Kenzie isn't in school on Father's Day, her school likes to try to do something fun for the VPK dads early before school gets out. So, Friday was Donuts with Dad. Kenzie has been soooooo very excited about this. She has talked about it non-stop for 2 weeks now. She has come home every day telling me about the things she has made for Daddy at school to give him during Donuts with Dads. She talked about painting her nails the night before and picking out a pretty dress to wear for the event. Daddy definitely hangs the moon for that little girl. We have had a countdown going for more than a week and every day she tells me how many more days before Donuts with Dad. Steven had a lot of work but wouldn't have missed it so he took off the morning to go with her. The only real downfall was that because he had to work later in the day, I had to drive her over to the school and meet him there because I needed to have her car seat for the drive home. She didn't care though. She was just so excited for the event. When we pulled up, it was so cute to see all the kids outside with their dads waiting for the doors to open. Steven had to drop her off at her classroom and then was told how to get upstairs to the Donuts with Dad room (as Kenzie kept calling it). Each dad had a special place setting with some gifts from their child. Kenzie made Daddy a card, a tie that he had to wear, and a keychain. On the card she drew herself, Daddy, and H2 (our big sucker fish). We have no idea how H2 made the cut for the card... but he did. The kids sang two songs to the dads. Kenzie was so excited to sing them to Daddy and has been practicing them for weeks. =) Steven said that they had a blast. Kenzie had three donuts apparently and some fruit. I'm sure the teachers loved having a bunch of sugared up preschoolers all morning.

That afternoon we headed over to the mall to run a few errands. Steven ended up meeting us there while the kids played at the indoor play area. It was good because it was so hot outside but they wanted to play so badly. It ended up working out. After some play time we went over to Best Buy. We still had one more TV to replace and we had picked one out so we knew exactly what we wanted. We were able to walk right in, pick it up, pay, and walk out. Much appreciated with two kids in tow. They wanted to play with EVERYTHING. Both of them HAD to try out the 3D glasses when we walked in. Then they had to stop to watch a movie before messing with some Star Wars alarm clocks or something. Best Buy is not a good store for two small children. That evening we ordered some pizza and sat down to watch Moana. We have seen it before, but Kenzie (and I admit... me and Will and likely Steven) enjoyed it a lot. Kenzie loved it so much that she changed her party theme from Rapunzel to Moana. A luau style party is super easy to do in the summer though so I was good with the change. We bought it earlier in the week with plans for a family pizza and movie night. I foresee a lot of Moana in our future. I'm super excited to have a break from Frozen, too. I admit... Moana has taken a place at the top of my Disney Princess (She isn't a princess! She is the daughter of the chief!) along with Belle and Rapunzel.

Saturday morning we started pretty early. We had plans to go to Hollywood Studios with our neighbors for the day. We left a bit early and stopped at Chick Fil A for breakfast. We were early enough to let the kids play on the play place for a while before we had to head down to Disney. Traffic was pretty bad getting in. We realized that this is the first time that we have actually been to Studios in the morning so we had not yet dealt with morning traffic there. It took us longer than expected to get in but we were parked pretty close to the front and in the park fairly quickly. The longest part of the entire thing is actually sunblocking everyone. But it is worth it. I'm proud to say that after another day at Disney, no one had any sunburn or anything so another successful trip. Once in the park and after a potty break, we didn't have time to do the Great Movie Ride as we had planned before our neighbors got there and our first FP. We ended up going over to the characters near Disney Jr. This was our first trip with Will's autograph book. We wanted to get him one too and wondered if we gave him a book if he would be more willing to go up to characters. Our first stop was Sofia the First. Lo and behold, Will took his book and walked right up to Sofia. He got her autograph and then took pictures with her. Man! If we knew the book would make that big of a difference for him, then we would have done it a while ago. Not that it certainly would have worked a few months ago but we would have tried it. Kenzie has always loved characters since the first time we went to Disney when she was about 2 and a half but Will has ebbed and flowed. After Sofia we went over to see Jake and then Pluto. Our neighbors arrived as we were about to meet Pluto and then it was time for our first FP. We went into the Disney Jr. show. The kids loved it, as always. It was the first time at Studios for our neighbor's daughter and she definitely seemed to love it. We had some time after Disney Jr. to ride the Great Movie Ride. Kenzie is super into that ride for some reason. We, honestly, have no idea why but she loves it. Except the Alien part... but that part is even a bit much for me sometimes. We got the cowboy version. I admit... I like the gangster better but it's the luck of the draw. It was time for our next FP after that. The Frozen show. We had the storyteller actors from the last time we saw the show when the guy spit on his co-actor. They were HILARIOUS. We had jokes about United, Starbucks Unicorn Fraps, a guy that refused to sing, and babies drinking Perrier. So funny. It was probably the best version we have seen so far. I love this show because it is different every time. The actors can ad lib and some are better than others. This particular duo is great. After that, we sat down at Backlot Express to eat lunch. We brought our lunch, as usual. Makes life so much easier and we worry less about money we spend for things like overpriced food at Disney. Then it was time for Toy Story. This time I got to ride with Will which was good because I don't have to help him. He is perfectly fine with just pretending like he is doing something. So I was actually able to play. I did help him some but we mainly just laughed as the ride spun us around. I determined that I think he is going to like Barnstormer. So, the plan is to take him on next time we are at MK and see if we can convince Kenzie to get on it again. She said she liked it but has hit this weird afraid of heights phase and has refused to go back on it. We will see. Then we went over to see the Little Mermaid show. I always forget how short it is, but it is a nice break from the heat. We promised the kids that they could see Doc McStuffins before we left so we went over to do that. Despite Will being tired, he was all into visiting her so he could get his book signed. We were really surprised with that. We thought that because he was tired, that he wouldn't have it but he was excited. It was well past nap time at that point and we had plans for later in the evening so we split from our neighbors and headed out. Much to our chagrin, the kids stayed awake a while but then BOTH of them fell asleep in the car. We knew they were tired. We ended up stopping for a soda on the way home just to keep driving for a bit longer. (And because I really wanted a soda.) We tried to transition both of them to bed when we got home but it didn't work. Kenzie never transitions for naps (but does for bed) and Will was too far into a nap so he was done once we moved him. Oh well. They got about 30 minutes. That was going to have to do because we had more plans for later...

After a bit of down time at the house, we changed clothes and headed out to a birthday party. The son of some friends from church was turning 2. I know him (and his mommy) from being in the back. I remember his first day with us in the nursery. Such a cutie. He is right at the same age as Will too so we definitely wanted to celebrate with them. We realized that they live in the neighborhood on the other side of our church near us so we hope to get together some over the summer if we can. His party was at the RDV Sportsplex. I didn't know you could have parties there but it was so cool! It was train themed and we had the run of a gym area. There was a bounce house obstacle course that Kenzie loved and basketball that Will loved. Everyone had pizza and then we did scooter races, played with a parachute, tried to keep balloons in the air using pool noodles, and used the little gym area. It was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast. Kenzie has asked for her party to be there when she turns 6. Haha! We will see. The girls working the party were awesome, too. They were good at what they did and they ran the party really well. Makes parties much more enjoyable when you know everyone is having fun and you have less to worry about. We just might consider it for her next year. We aren't members of RDV though so I need to look into it and see if that is even an option for us. We have over a year to think about it though. We were surprised the kids made it home awake. The party went from 5:30 to 7:30 and the kids were shot after the day we had but they made it home and to bed. As it turned out, I think both of them were a bit overtired because they didn't sleep as great as I would have expected based on all we did but it was okay because they had fun.

Sunday was mostly more of the same old, same old for us. We went to church in the morning. For the first time since we potty trained Will about 7 months ago, we let him go sans pull-up. We have always used one because we felt it made life easier for him and the people working in the back but we needed to cut the cord. He did great. We also got a recommendation from two people to get a froggy urinal. Okay, Steven and I actually saw this thing online a while ago and laughed at it... not knowing that we would one day eat our words and actually consider one for our little guy. We looked it up and for the cost, we think we might do it. Anyway, Steven was doing tech so he stayed for both services. The kids and I ran to get a paper and then started making dinner once we got home. We were on the schedule for the day to deliver dinner to another member of our church that had a medical issue a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to get it to her and her family in the afternoon. Bonus was that we made chicken enchilada casserole so I doubled it and made it for our family too because Steven and I love it. =) After dropping off dinner to her family we set up the pool in the driveway and invited over the neighbors for a front yard pool party. We considered going up to the neighborhood pool but decided to put it off for a couple more weeks because we know it is still a bit chilly for our Florida blood even though everyone else in the neighborhood seems to be using it already. We set up the sprinkler for a while too. Kenzie loves to play in the sprinkler but Will wasn't so sure. He kept trying to go to it but then it would move and he would be "rained" on by the cold water. He didn't like that part. Our other neighbors ended up joining us too after a bit and all the kids played together while the adults were able to socialize some. Always nice to have some adult interaction.

The kids were sufficiently tired by the end of the weekend. Kenzie was so tired that she came in and actually laid down while watching some TV. Usually she bounces around even when the TV is on but she was so tired she laid down and covered up. And just stayed there. Weird. This week is going to be pretty busy. We have the irrigation people coming on Monday which means that we will officially be all wrapped with our lightning claim issues. It is the final piece that needs to be completed. Wednesday is kindergarten registration for Kenzie. I'm going to be a mess. Thursday is Mother's Day Tea at Kenzie's school and I am super excited. Then this next weekend we have more fun things planned.

On a side note: This weekend also signaled the end of the month so we finished our A Second A Day project including adding April. We officially switched songs so it took me a while to figure out how I wanted to do it. We love watching it though. We already feel like the beginning of the year had our children looking much, much younger. They have changed so much in the last 4 months. It's crazy how fast that happens. Anyway, here is the most recent video. =)

Friday Favorites - Double Edition

This week's Friday Favorites is actually a double edition. That's because last Tuesday we had a baby! Needless to say, I was sort of busy on Friday as we prepared to be discharged from the hospital after my repeat c-section. I never got around to writing this post. I was exhausted by the time we made it home and yet still had to deal with having a toddler (that I missed so much I just wanted to sit and hold her... if she would ever allow that sort of thing to happen.) I just never got around to posting. This is going to be a pic heavy post because I have so many moments and things I love from the past two weeks. So, I figure we should start with one of my favorite moments of the last two weeks. One of my favorite moments ever. It ranks right on up there with the birth of Kenzie. That's right... the birth of Will. I will spare you the picture of Will right as he was removed from his home for the last 9 months (it's a bit graphic) and just leave you with these: Hang

14 Weeks... Welcome to the Second Trimester!

Baby’s Size: Lemon How far along:  14 Weeks Total weight gain: 2 lbs and I am still okay with that. Sleep:  Pretty good. I can’t complain at this point. We were out of town last week so it wasn’t as good being that we weren’t home and in our own comfy bed, but overall it has been pretty good. Maternity Clothes:  Finally broke out the maternity shirts. Just one at this point and mainly so that my stomach wouldn’t stick out.  Food cravings:  Nothing really. I’m pretty boring when it comes to this. I was last time too…    Food aversions: Nothing other than those dumb burritos at this point.      Symptoms I HAVE: I’m feeling pretty good. Still some random nausea and I still get tired some afternoons. Exhausted, actually. Other than that though, it’s pretty good. Stretchmarks:  Still no new ones. The old ones are really light. I did notice that my c-section scar has been really dark this past week. I have no idea why. Doctor’s Appointment:  May 5 th . Still wai

Happy Fourth of July!!! (A Few Days Late...)

There is no way I was going to get around to posting this blog prior to now. It has been a crazy week or so since my birthday. I couldn't let the holiday pass (too much) without recapping it. =) I barely remember July 4th last year. I know that we didn't do anything. Kenzie was almost a year old, had a bed time that I didn't want to mess up, and we were afraid she might be scared of the fireworks so we sat at home, did our usual and went to bed while our neighbors were still lighting fireworks off. We spent the night playing every American's favorite game... "Firework or gunshot?" In our neck of the woods... you never can tell. Might be someone having a bit of target practice. Regardless, this year we decided to throw caution to the wind and attempt to enjoy some actual fireworks. Every year there is a big to do down at Lake Eola. We have been before (or at least gotten pretty close because we had some friends that lived downtown and we could see the
