Happy Half Birthday, Kenzie!!!

This little fireball is celebrating 2... and a HALF today! I can't believe it. She is such a happy and energetic child. I hope she never changes. Kenzie is always chatting away, singing, or dancing and she (almost) always has a smile on her face. When I think about what it is like to love life... this girl is it. We could all take a lesson from her and learn to live life to the fullest.

Happy half birthday sweet girl!!

Warning... Picture overload ahead... =) Take a gander at Kenzie from 2 years to 2 1/2 years old. Our little blue eyed, blonde bundle of excitement. She's not so little anymore.

I have to mention that this is probably my favorite picture
of Kenzie... EVER. It definitely captures who she truly is.

Oh! And by the way... if anyone is interested in knowing what living with a toddler is like... This. This is how we started our picture taking experience this morning. I took about 75 pictures... 2 were okay. Most looked like this.

Happy half birthday to our stubborn, independent, strong willed, beautiful, loving, happy (most of the time) little sunshine. (Though she would not be happy that I called her any of those things right now. Crazy kid.)

Eight is Great!

Today Kenzie is EIGHT! It's so crazy. We have an 8 year old. Only two years away from double digits. A third grader. A girl that is quickly becoming a preteen. There is only a year left (technically) until that is officially the stage we are in. Though I have to say... she acts more and more like an actual preteen every day of her life. She's too much. We often joke that she is 8 going on 28, but in all honesty, she is an old soul and often acts much older than her years. At 8-years-old, Kenzie... - Is still the friendliest kid I know. She loves with her whole heart. She hates to hurt anyone's feelings. The downside is that her feelings get hit hard when someone isn't nice to her. We have had to deal with that on occasion, especially in the last year when we had a run in with a girl that Kenzie thought was her friend but she ended up being not really nice to Kenzie in the long run. We learned as parents that the "mean girl" stage starts early. Kenzie...

Unofficial Start of Summer - Memorial Day Weekend 2017

This weekend is typically when we consider it to be the "unofficial" start of summer. Something about Memorial Day just makes us think of summer. First and foremost though we remember those brave people that fought for our freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice doing so. I spent some time explaining Memorial Day to Kenzie a couple of weeks back when I put our American flag inspired wreath on the door. We want the kids to know that this weekend isn't technically about cookouts and pool time despite the fact that we spend time doing that because we have a 3 day weekend. It's about those men and women that didn't come home but went to fight for us knowing that anyway. Thank you to them and prayers for their family and friends that have an empty chair at dinner or a missing person in a family photo. This weekend was super busy for us. We started bright and early on Friday. Friday was Kenzie's last day of school which you can read about HERE if you are inte...

Baseball, Birthdays, Picnics and Paintings

Whew! I'm tired. That's nothing unusual though. We had another big weekend. We started our weekly Spring Happenings list on Friday. Initially we planned on doing our Friday plans on Saturday but then Kenzie had a school friend's birthday come up so we decided to make some last minute changes. Friday afternoon Steven came home a bit early and we headed out to UCF to take in a baseball game. We have now hit up football, basketball, and baseball with the kids. They like all sports so far... though Will's first question when we mention a sporting event is always about popcorn. The kid has a popcorn problem. We love watching our kids be able to run around our alma mater's campus. It is just so cool. We love that we get to live close and go back to visit all the time as well as take in various activities and sports on campus. I'm hoping we get them so excited about UCF that they follow in our footsteps one day... though they can choose whatever they want. Except USF...
