Swinging the Day Away

Recently we have learned that Mackenzie loves to swing. We always knew she liked her baby swing she had at the house, but we have had to pack that up because she figured out how to slither out of it. With her new found ability to sit though, she was finally ready to start swinging at the park in the real "baby" swings.

This past weekend we had Momma (Nana) take Jack back to Palatka with her so that we could clean our carpets. That was much needed with a dog and a soon to be mobile baby. So, after cleaning the carpets we were looking for things to do outside the house that wouldn't be too monotonous for Kenzie. She gets bored easily it seems. =)

Anyway, we decided to try the park. While she isn't big enough to use the playsets yet, we figured she could swing. She LOVED it! At first, it was a bit scary I think but once she realized that she was safe, she had a great time. The downfall was that it was so very cold! We were only able to stay a few minutes. Since then though, Kenzie and I have gone up to the park once to let her swing. She also likes to "slide" down the slide with some help.

Young Summer of Fun - Bucket List Update (Week 12)

Honestly, I debated doing a weekly update for this week because we didn't actually check anything off the summer bucket list... but decided to go ahead and do it because we did do some fun stuff. Plus, there are only two more weeks of this (including this one) so anyone that is actually interested can read it if they want. =) This week was fairly low key. Steven was dealing with his shingles diagnosis so we didn't do anything too crazy because the main reason he likely came down with it was because he is so run down and stressed out. Kenzie had school all week. Well, except Monday but on Monday's, we dance. She did great at dance by the way! She goes to dance each week and then spends the next 6 days asking us if she has dance. We made her a calendar for the fridge that lists her activities and dance is on it. We cross off each day so she can count down to dance. Doesn't matter. She still asks. Wishful thinking, I guess. And she is still rocking school. She is doing...

13 Weeks to 13 Miles! OUC Orlando Half Marathon Training: Week 7

This is it. This is officially the middle week of the 13 weeks to 13 miles training plan. It's the odd man out week. It is also the week after our rest week and the week that things really start to pick up speed. We have mostly done overall low mileage weeks up until this point topping out at 13 miles which is overall less than the half marathon... by a measly .1 mile but that mileage was all divvied up over 3 runs so it's definitely not the same. Now we start ramping up and we don't slow down until the week before the race when we essentially taper. This week is an overall 15 miles and by the end, we will top out at 22 weekly miles. Eek. We can do it! I know we can. I hope. Haha! Tuesday Plan: 4 Miles, Actual: 4 Miles Whew! Another run in the books. This one was probably one of the worst ones so far. Not because I didn't run okay. I was actually fine for most of the run. I kept my 1:1 intervals and paced about 13:30 without too many outliers as far as timing goes. ...

Spending Time At The Family Dinner Table

I set a few new goals for this school year. I have big plans. Always. Haha! Anyway, my goal has been to try to add one new recipe per week to our rotation of meals as well as use our slow cooker once a week. So far, we have been doing pretty well and so far, we have enjoyed all of our new meals. We did have a week of set back so far when we had no power after Hurricane Irma so that we didn't make any new meals or anything. The current week was another difficult week as we had to spend money restocking some essentials in our kitchen that we lost due to the power outage so we had to hold off on anything new this week, as well. The main goal of all of this has been to add new recipes but also make sure that we are spending time at the dinner table as a family. This is something we have tried to do since our kids have been old enough to understand eating dinner as a family. BC (Before Children) and even when Kenzie was small, we ate in the living room while watching TV a lot, but as ...
