Lake Nona 5k 2018 - Race Recap

Whew! Another 5k in the books. And this one was HOT! HOT! HOT! So, freaking hot. I wish I had thought to take a screenshot of the temperature at start time. I did find this on the Run Nona event page and I would fully agree that the temp was hovering around 89 degrees. Remember though that is not accounting for the "Feels Like" temp. It was stupid hot. We still had a blast though! We have actually never been out to Lake Nona. We don't have a need really to go that far so this was new to us. It is about a 45 minute drive. Will fell asleep on the way there which is good and bad. Good because he was able to stay up later without getting ridiculous at all. Bad because he doesn't wake up nice usually from naps. It's part of the reason we don't push them with him... but that is another story for another time. We were able to find parking fairly easily. We found out later we were lucky. Some people had to park a couple miles from the start line. Will woke up ...

Race Recap: Celebration of Running 5k 2018

I'm finally getting around to writing up and posting a race recap for our most recent race. It wasn't that long ago but I find that if I wait a few days or more, I have a harder time remembering everything I wanted to say. So, let see if I can remember... This race was made for us... We even made one of the promo pics this year. Haha!!! Last Saturday we ran the Celebration of Running 5k for the second year in a row. This is the first race in the Track Shack Running Series. We didn't register for the series again this year as we are unsure if we can do one specific race later in the season so it wasn't worth it for us. One year we are going to though. I want that extra medal and Raw Threads shirt. The day before the race my knee started acting up again randomly. I wasn't really happy about that. It was bad enough that Steven encouraged me to walk the entire thing. I asked my mom to bring one of her knee braces for me to borrow hoping that would help. We decide...

Happy 6th Birthday, Kenzie!

Dear Kenzie, I can't believe it! You are six-years-old now! That is crazy. If someone asks you to show you how old you are (which doesn't happen really at 6 but let's pretend for a moment), it would take you two hands. TWO! You continue to grow and grow... and grow. It isn't uncommon for people to still think you are somewhat older than you are. At this point you are 47 inches tall (81st percentile) and you weigh 48.6 pounds (55th percentile in weight for height). You are still tall and thin. Nothing new there. The doc noticed a slight assymetry in your back this year so we are going to be monitoring that. Scoliosis runs in the family so you are at a  higher risk. You may require an x-ray next year. You wear a size 7-8 in most shorts and pants. Every now and then you can fit into a 6 but it's rare nowadays. In shirts you are usually wearing a 7-8 or medium as well. Dresses are more of the same. You wear a 12 to 13  in shoes... but your school shoes that we ju...

Friday Favorites - Summer Bucket List Weeks 6 & 8

In lieu of our normally scheduled Friday Favorites Bucket List Update... today we bring you a Monday Funday version. But I'm still calling it Friday Favorites so I can tag it correctly. =) But enough of that... onto a recap of Week 6 (plus a couple of days) of our Bucket List. We checked a couple more things off the list this week. Friday we packed up and headed off to stay with Nana and Papa (an item on the list). The kids and I left in the afternoon with Jack and Steven came when he got off work. He was working in Cocoa for the day so it made more sense for him to go straight from there rather than home first. Plus, with Jack we were limited on space in my car so we almost needed him to drive his truck just for the added space. The trip up was uneventful except for some heavy patched of rain. Steven got a lot more rain on his trip but both of us made it within about 30 minutes of each other. We all went to dinner at La Hacienda, a super yummy Mexican restaurant in Palatka. Pa...
