This week held a lot of new, fun activities. We started our week on Saturday when Kenny decided to hang out in our fridge. Apparently Florida was just too much heat for him... it's still HOT here in December this year. Anyway, our activity of the day was to have dinner with the family at Disney Springs (aka Downtown Disney).
We met everyone down at the hotel they were staying at before taking the boat over to Disney Springs where we had reservations at Bongos. We had a good time and the kids loved spending some time with the family. We had a late-ish night because we waited for Grandma and Grandaddy to get their tickets for Disney sorted out, but the kids did well and fell asleep on the way home so they were put straight in bed once we got back.
On Day 14, Kenny was hanging out with Mickey because our activity for the day was to go to EPCOT. These last two days didn't really have "advent" activities in the sense that Kenny brought something for us to do and we pretended like we were surprised by the activity (though I did tell Kenzie that I gave Kenny a list of things we would like to do and he just decides what day we do them) since the kids knew about these activities quite a while ago. So, he wasn't truly bringing a new activity but just wishing us a fun day.
We had a great time a Disney, which you can read all about here. I won't recap the entire day again here but we had a great time. The kids got to meet quite a few characters and we rode all the rides we wanted to. We are still trying to find time to do the hedge maze in the United Kingdom. Maybe next time we will reverse our trek through the countries to make sure we get to do that.

On Day 15, Kenny decided to bring us a treat in the form of "candy seeds" that Kenzie was to plant in sugar and see what happens the next day. She was super excited about this and promptly asked to plant them. She pushed a few down into the sugar and asked to keep the bowl in her room. We explained that Kenny probably needed to sprinkle some elf magic on them once we went to sleep so they should stay in the kitchen at night. She seemed okay with that. Our activity for the day was to visit Kenny's buddy, Santa.
Kenzie was crazy excited about Santa. This was night and day from last year (and the year before). We always go to Bass Pro Shops because they give you a free picture and we usually do not want to spend a lot of money on a picture that we don't think will happen anyway. We are just sure someone is going to lose it. This year, we did pretty well. Kenzie ran right up to Santa and asked him if he liked her pretty dress. He said he did. She told him that she wanted dolls and a princess castle. Will was a bit apprehensive about the big guy, but he did sit on his lap for a few minutes while we TRIED to get a good picture. He was just so serious. We were offered a retake, but we declined because we knew that Will was teetering on the edge of tears so we didn't want to risk that knowing that we had a picture and Kenzie was happy with her visit. We are still glad we went and we are happy to have the picture to remember it. The kids also rode the carousel, Kenzie shot the guns and played with the trains and remote controlled cars as well as colored. It was a successful trip.
The next day, Kenny brought us candy canes! The "candy seeds" that Kenzie planted the day before apparently sprouted overnight. And just in time! Candy canes were perfect as an add-on for our activity of the day, which was driving around neighborhoods near our own to look for fun lights.
As it turns out, Kenzie also had her school Christmas play that day and Nana came into town to go to it. Then, Nana stayed overnight so that she could watch the kiddos while I worked on Wednesday. That meant that Nana was able to drive around to see the lights with us. We got both kids in pjs, grabbed their evening milk, and a candy cane for Kenzie and set out. Kenzie LOVED looking for lights. Unfortunately, we used the term "lazy lights" about the laser lights and now every house she sees with lights gets dubbed as having lazy lights... even if it doesn't. Oops. Will promptly fell asleep and snored through the duration of our trip, but Kenzie enjoyed it.
The next morning, Kenny decided to just hang around and he set himself up right above Nana's "bed" (a blow up mattress) for the evening. Nana said Will was actually the first one to notice him and he came within about 3 inches of touching him. Thank goodness he didn't. Kenzie would have lost it. The activity of the day was to donate to Toys for Tots.
Nana actually ended up helping us out and doing this one with the kiddos. I don't have a lot of details other than Kenzie changed her mind about 34 times regarding what she wanted to get for the kids and then attempted to give them to people we know instead of other children. It is important to us to explain to her that this is also a season for giving and that she is very fortunate, but other children might not have as much and we want to make sure they have a happy holiday as well. They dropped the toys off and Kenzie was fine with it. This is always an important day for us just because we want the kids to understand the concept of giving to others.
The following day, Kenny sent us on a candy cane hunt. He hid 8 candy canes throughout the living room area and Kenzie had a blast trying to find them. Our activity of the day was to do a Christmas craft. I'm amazed that we made it this far into the month without doing one yet. Usually, I use craft days as fillers, but as Kenzie gets older, there are more and more things she is able to participate in so we have less "filler" days.
After I picked Kenzie up from school we went over to Hobby Lobby and she picked out a coloring craft with a cat and dog figure. When we got home she got straight to work. After about 10 minutes she told me that they were Christmas gifts for Steven and me. Then she made me bring her a box, she put them in said box, and then told me to wrap it and we could open it on Christmas day. Are you kidding?? Too cute! I love that kid.
The last day of the week was 1 week before Christmas so Kenny decided to hang out on our Christmas countdown snowman. Kenzie loves that thing. We change it every day and I make her choose the next number we need from a group. Have to get some learning in there somewhere. Haha! Anyway, our activity for the day was to have dinner by the Christmas tree. Kenzie was so excited. Who knew it was that exciting to eat in the living room?
Usually we make a snowman shaped pizza for this night, but we have eaten pizza already this week so we elected to let Kenzie choose food. Hot dogs and mac and cheese it is! Kenzie's favorite. We watched some short Toy Story movie thing (it was about 30 minutes long and about dinosaurs). It was cute. Kenzie ate EVERYTHING. Seriously, the kid downed 3 hot dogs, a ton of mac and cheese, a clementine, and goldfish. Will was being a bit weird and just yelled at me until I gave him some crackers in addition to his food. Then he ate. I think he is teething his molars so he is acting quite off lately and will not stop chewing on his hands. Poor kid. It was a fun night though.
We had a great time with our activities this week. We now have one week of Kenny left and there are a few really good things left for the upcoming week. I'm excited.
