Happy Half Birthday, Will!

So... Will's half birthday is upon us. He is 2 and a HALF now! I can't believe that. This has been a whirlwind 2 and a half years. Here's a bit of an update on our toddler... At 2 and a half, Will... ... is getting taller and taller. He has started to grow a lot like his Sissy did and shoot up in height after about 2. He has always been tall-ish but now he is taking off. We don't have a formal height or weight on him yet because his half birthday happens to fall on Good Friday and our pediatrician is closed so we have to wait until next week to get formal info. We have tried measuring him a few times and usually get right around 37.25 inches depending on how cooperative he wants to be. If that is correct then we estimate him at about 82nd percentile. Ironically, if it is correct, he will be the same height Kenzie was at this age. They matched up in height at 2-years-old as well. According to our marks on the wall, he has grown about 5 inches in the last year. Tha...

It's Raining, It's Pouring

This post is mainly to detail what we have been up to for the last week. The thing that has occupied most of my thoughts for almost 2 weeks now. I'm hoping one day I look back and laugh at how crazy I was about it. Right now though... I'm worrying about getting everything fixed and hurting because of the stye in my eye that shows up any time I get crazy stressed out. Anyway... I give you (if you are even interested)... The Lightning Saga of 2017: First up... It's Raining, It's Pouring is one of Will's favorite songs right now for some reason but I have questions... How did the old man go to bed and THEN bump his head? In his sleep? Weird. Secondly, why did he not get out of bed in the morning? Did he bump his head so badly that he died? I have many questions. Second... you know the saying, when it rains, it pours? Well, we learned that sometimes is the case. I have heard before that Central Florida is often considered the "Lightning Capital" of the Uni...

We Are All Iron Girls - 2017 Iron Girl Clearwater 5k Recap

We did it! We are Iron Girls! This year I made a return to Iron Girl Clearwater to run the 5k once again. However, this time, I brought along some company. My mom drove with me last year when I ran this race. This was my first true road race ever (I walked a 5k once in 2011) and I knew that this year, I needed to go back to try to beat my prior time. I’ve gotten faster and stronger since that day a year ago and wanted to see how I measured up. In the mean time, I talked about how fun races were and I got my mom interested in doing one herself. Earlier this year she walked a 5k distance with us for our church's 5k to benefit the missions in Laos. Unfortunately, that 5k was cancelled the morning of due to really terrible weather but in the spirit of doing what we said we would do to support the cause, we walked the 5k that day through our neighborhood anyway. My mom realized how far 3.1 miles really is and knew she could do it so Iron Girl was an obvious next stop. I highly recomm...

New State Parks, Beaches, Movies, and Friend Time

Another weekend has been put in the books for the Young Household. This weekend was actually a bit less crazy than some of our others, I think but still filled with fun and some new things. We started Friday afternoon when Steven was able to come home an hour or so early. We started getting ready for our big Saturday plans and then made pizza and sat down to watch a movie. We love this Friday tradition. We try to do it at least a couple times a month. We used to order pizza but when we started watching our finances closer, we determined that it was better for us to make pizza either homemade or frozen (and the kids like frozen pizza as much as pizza from a restaurant right now so we will continue to capitalize on that for a while... Will loves homemade but Kenzie is in a current anti-homemade stage because she is weird). Anyway, we made a frozen pizza and some cheesy bread. Then we sat down together to watch Inside Out. We picked it up at the library last week and never had a chance ...
